dummies.jpgNew to online video, not yet uploaded any videos to video sharing sites, not quite sure what to do, then read on.

So you have one or more videos already shot and you want to take advantage of the free online video sharing sites so your videos will drive traffic to your website. If you have not yet subscribed to any sites then this is your first step. All the major video sharing sites, YouTube, Google Video, Break, DailyMotion and others do things similarly. So here’s what you should expect at each site:

• First, navigate to the site of your choice and establish a log-in, which is always required to post videos. You will need a user name and password and an email address. You will verify your email address by looking in your in box and clicking on the link in an email from the site you are joining.

• Next step, click on the clearly marked “upload” button, and most sites have gotten a lot better about making that important button more obvious.

• Then you’ll be asked to choose a title for you video, write a brief description and then you’ll create a list of tags or keywords you want associated with your video so people can find it when they’re searching for videos. The video sites walk you through the easy process of creating tags.

• If you don’t want the general public to view your video, and you won’t receive any traffic if you decide this option, nearly all the sites offer you some option to establish that you’re uploading for private viewing. You should be able to specify a list of email addresses you want notified of your upload. However, if you want your video to become one of those viral masterpiece, then make sure you do not select private view.

• Once you’ve entered the required information, you’ll prepare to upload by clicking on “browse” to find the video on your hard drive, or by selecting to pull video from another device, such as a ‘Flip’ camcorder, mobile phone or Web cam. However you really need to edit your video first and certainly display your website address.

• With your video identified, click on “upload,” and within a few minutes, your video will have uploaded to your site of choice. Be aware that it can take a few hours for videos to actually show up on most sites, however.

• That’s it, now move on to you next site and start over again. To make things easier and safe time register with all the sites first, production line style, before uploading. Then upload your first video to all the sites before starting on the second one and so on.

That’s it, you are now part of the YouTube generation. You’ll be there along with Queen Elizabeth, presidential candidates, the Rolling Stones, online marketers, weirdos and anyone with an axe to grind plus countless others.

When the day comes that you are uploading more videos and it is becoming time consuming and tedious then take a look at this article.
