Viral Video Creation Part 2
July 15, 2008 by Bruce Walls
The sound aspect of your video is vital. A viral video has to have top quality sound! This is most important. I think that this is one of the biggest mistakes people make with their videos. They spend all their time and money on making their videos ‘look’ great, and then not pay much attention to the sound quality of the video. Having good, clear sound is vital! Your footage can look less than top quality but if the sound is good and your story is solid, people will still watch it.
Use professionally recorded music, that you have permission to use and copy, and voice over talent to ensure your videos have the highest quality sound. There is a great commercial music licensing company called PumpAudio. that has thousands of professionally recorded songs with or without lyrics, that you can buy for only $25 a time. Any type of music background clip you need to heighten the energy of your video, and make it sound professional, you can also find at PumpAudio.
There are many other commercial licensing companies on line that sell clips for less. Sites worth considering are premiumbeat.com and acidplanet.com. At the latter site you find independent music producers who might be willing to edit your sound tracks for a small fee. Failing that you can find skillful editors at Craigslist who will be happy to earn some extra spending money.
For voice over work, at reasonable prices, visit VoiceTalentNow.com. It is a great service that will create a voice over for your video within 24 hours. It’s really simple. You email them your script and the next day you have the audio file in your email box. You then upload it to your video editor and there it is, your professional sounding voice over for less than 50 bucks. Hard to believe!
To be sure that the voice talent emphasizes the message in the right place record your own soundtrack in the most concise, clear, compelling language possible. Playback and listen to it and if not happy then work on it, edit the script and record it again, and check it over once more. Normally it would be better to upload this track to your server so that the voice talent could hear where the emphasis is to be placed on something he possibly knows nothing about the subject of the video. Otherwise he might say what you want but not in the way you want.
One thing about voice talent in general, is that most voice talent people inflect high on the end of statement, meaning, if you want to make a bold
statement, you say it straight, not ending the statement with a question mark. Many voice over talents speak this way, ending many of their statements in the form of a question. Just be aware of this and why it is important that you record the soundtrack yourself and make it available for the talent to listen to.
