Google Earth To Feature YouTube Video Content
October 13, 2007 by Bruce Walls
It seems that there is no end to the opportunities to incorporate video into ever more websites. It has just been announced by leading search engine Google that locations on Google Earth will be able to feature YouTube videos from the video sharing giant, presenting the possibility of an interesting new Online Marketing possibility.
Writing just recently on a Google blog, software engineer Amin Charaniya stated: “Now you can find YouTube videos connected to specific locations right in Google Earth.
“Our new browseable layer of geotagged videos works a lot like our Google Book Search layer, only it shows you the locations referenced in specific videos instead of books.”
“Let’s say you’re jetting off to Paris. Before you go, you can watch the sunset filmed from the top floor of the Eiffel Tower, among other clips of popular spots in the City of Lights.”
The new video content can be found in the ‘Featured Content’ folder in Google Earth. The videos can either be played in Google Earth or at YouTube itself.
With [tag-tec]online video advertising[/tag-tec] becoming increasingly prevalent, small businesses will be able to take advantage of the system to market themselves effectively to a huge audience online.
Google purchased YouTube for $1.65 billion last year and are obviously looking at all opportunities to earn income from their investment. This seems a perfectly feasible way of monetizing the YouTube videos which has already started. Read this post.
