Sanyo unveiled two new 720P high definition camcorders this week, the upright, “pistol-grip” VPC-CG10 and the VPC-TH1, a traditionally-shaped horizontal design. Each offers different strengths: the TH1 tries to make a name for itself with its diminutive size, and offers a larger 30x optical zoom but smaller 2-megapixel CMOS sensor. The CG10 is positioned as a camera/camcorder hybrid, with has a smaller 5x optical zoom but a much larger 10-megapixel CMOS and high-res photos. Less than twenty years ago, you would have never had a chance at creating something that over a million people would see or hear unless you were signed with a big music label, or you were going to have a movie made with a major movie studio.
We are living in a whole new world now, where somebody with a borrowed video camera on a borrowed computer spending maybe $50 could literally make a video that could be seen by millions of people at video sharing sites, and what’s more there are people online who are doing it all the time. As 2007 draws to a close we can look back on the year and easily call it the year of [tag]online video[/tag]. We can also look ahead and ponder, wonder infact and make predictions as to where online video is heading in 2008.

As you look around the internet at the ever increasing [tag]video sharing sites[/tag] it is amazing how interesting some of them really are. I recently visited SciVee which is funded by The National Science Foundation, encourages scholars with a paper hot off the press to make a short video highlighting the key points. It also accepts unsolicited submissions that have no connection to any published work.

There has never been a means that touches so many people on such an intimate level than video. Whether you are going to the movies, watching television, or surfing the internet, you are able to view videos that are of interest to you. But why is video so powerful in explaining a message, telling a story or selling a product? The reason why we are so connected with video is because it stimulates two powerful senses in our bodies, namely sight and sound.
