Slide

Here is a nice application that you can use on your blog or website. Slide lets you use photos and other digital content to publish and discover the people and things that matter to you. Slide has been around for a while but you might not have come across it as yet.

Slide say that they are the largest personal media network in the world, reaching more than 134 million unique global viewers each month and 30 percent of the U.S. Internet audience.

Slide widgets, including Slideshows, Guestbooks, SkinFlix and FunPix, are popular on top social networking and blog platforms, including MySpace, Facebook, Bebo, Hi5, Friendster, Tagged, Piczo WordPress and Blogger. Slide is also the leading application developer on Facebook with more than 63 million applications installed, including SuperPoke and Top Friends, the most active application by more than four times that of any other 3rd party developer.

You can put together a slide show of pictures almost like a internet video to show what you are promoting to your visitors. Different to video but similar to a slide show video that we made using Photo Story 3.

It is real easy to use and the following slideshow was put together in a few minutes from pictures on my hard drive of my orchid collection. Once you have selected and uploaded the pictures from your hard drive you can spend time customizing your design by choosing a style, this one below is ‘Collage’, choose a skin, ‘Polaroid’ in this case, choose a theme, ‘Sparkle’, add music or a video, the music I choose is not really applicable to the slideshow but never mind. Select a colored background, select an effect which I haven’t, choose the size or the pictures and finally decide if your slideshow is to be public or private.

Once it is to your liking hit the save button and you move to the page to select the code for whereever your slide is going to be displayed. It might be on My Space, Live Spaces, Facebook or one of many more. I selected the code for WordPress but couldn’t get it to work so used the Blogger code instead. Slide is really a neat application.

Another neat touch is that there is the facility for viewers to add their email address and subscribe to your list as well as rate your slideshow. Here is the result.
